The Australian Government continues to take action to achieve gender balance on boards, which is widely recognised as a commercial imperative. Companies with female representation on their boards outperformed others by 8.7 per cent over five years.

Minister for Women, Kelly O’Dwyer, is reaching out to gender advocacy businesses and groups inviting our members to self-nominate for Boardlinks. Previously potential candidates required endorsement from a champion, Departmental Secretary or Federal Minister to make the list.  The Boardlinks database is used by the Australian Government to source women for its boards.

The Australian Government is actively looking to achieve its gender diversity target of women and men each holding at least 40 per cent of Government board positions and women holding overall 50 per cent of Government board positions. BoardLinks is key in supporting the Government to achieve this target.
